Carolyn McKenna is Mortimer Khoraych’s Review Counsel. In this capacity, Carolyn conducts independent internal Peer Reviews of MKPC investigations, including reviewing and assessing oral, documentary, electronic, and other evidence gathered as part of the investigation, in addition to reviewing the investigation process itself for fairness and reasonableness. Carolyn thoroughly reviews investigation reports for objectivity, clarity, neutrality, bias and logic.
Carolyn helps ensure that each investigation and report is impartial, that all evidence is carefully assessed and weighed, and that fully supportable conclusions are reached.
Carolyn brings her years of experience as a litigator to Mortimer Khoraych and is well versed in the principles of natural justice and procedural fairness. Prior to joining the firm, she spent eight years practicing labour and employment law at a leading national human resources and advocacy law firm. There, she assisted clients with a broad range of employment and labour related matters, from onboarding to termination, and everything in between. She also advised organizations on the correct process for conducting internal workplace investigations and advocated for and represented the parties involved.
Carolyn completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Western Ontario where she also received her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2011.
Carolyn also holds a certificate in Administrative Investigations from the Ontario Ombudsman and is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI), the only accredited workplace investigations training provider in North America.
