Hilary is a lawyer and workplace investigator. Hilary values a trauma-informed approach to investigations and her detail-oriented nature results in thorough and comprehensive investigative reports. Hilary specializes in conducting independent and comprehensive investigations, with a particular focus on the higher education sector. Hilary is very familiar with the internal and external legal and policy frameworks that apply to post-secondary institutions and has experience navigating issues related to many different stakeholder groups including employees, students, governing bodies, alumni, and government. Having worked as both external and internal legal counsel, Hilary is adept at understanding clients' needs and working with them to tailor a procedurally sound investigation.

Prior to joining the firm, Hilary spent several years practicing labour and employment law at a preeminent national labour and employment law firm. There, she advised clients on a broad range of labour and employment related matters, including labour relations, wrongful dismissal, human rights, privacy, and administrative law. Afterwards, she spent over nine years working at a post-secondary institution in various roles within the University Secretariat and the Office of Legal Counsel. In her roles within the University Secretariat, Hilary was responsible for managing the University's academic and non-academic student judicial systems and providing training regarding procedural fairness and adjudicative decision making. She also worked as a governance professional supporting both Board and Senate committees and developed, interpreted, and advised on university policies. As in-house legal counsel Hilary provided strategic legal advice to university clients, including senior leadership, regarding a wide variety of practice areas.

Hilary received her Bachelor of Arts Honours from Queen's University and completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Toronto, where she also received her Master of Arts in International Relations. She is called to the Ontario Bar.

In her spare time Hilary volunteers at a non-profit organization that provides grief and bereavement support to children, adolescents, and their families.
