Lawyer and Workplace Investigator
Lydia is a lawyer and workplace investigator with more than 9 years of experience in policy, litigation and staff relations.
As an investigative lawyer at Mortimer Khoraych, Lydia specializes in conducting independent and comprehensive investigations, with a particular focus on workplace bullying, harassment, sexual harassment and discrimination under Human Rights law and workplace policies, on the basis of grounds such as gender, race, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Lydia conducts investigative witness interviews, including accurate recording of oral evidence, assessing evidence and determining findings of fact.
Drawing on her extensive experience as an employment law litigator, Lydia is well-versed in the principles of natural justice and procedural fairness, and regularly advises organizations on proper processes for conducting internal workplace investigations.
Before joining Mortimer Khoraych, Lydia spent five years in Staff Relations at a post-secondary institution in various senior roles. In her role as Director of Human Resources at the University, Lydia supported staff on a wide range of employment and labour-related matters, including workplace investigations, interpreting negotiated agreements across all employee groups, and appearing before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and Ontario Labour Relations Board.
Lydia holds a Juris Doctor degree from Queens University, in addition to a Master's in Industrial Relations. She is called to the Ontario Bar.
